Thane City FC’s Under-13 team has won the district championship and qualified for the state championship. The team went on to claim this laurel being undefeated throughout the tournament. The team, made up of young players between the ages of 11 and 13, dominated their opponents throughout the season and finished with an impressive record of 7 out of 7 wins.
In the finals of the Thane Youth League, Thane City FC stood face-to-face against Sporting Club De Thane in an all-Thane showdown. The winners would qualify for the State Championship.
Story of the game
TCFC took the lead under the first fifteen minutes and went one man down a few moments later as the first half progressed. A ten-man wearing the colors – red and beige was now in charge of what remained of the game. Driven by sheer passion and the coach’s half-time team talk, the invincibles scored two more in the second half to make it three goals to nothing—and confirmed their first championship title!
Numerous fans were present to support the team and encourage the players throughout this thrilling game. When it was all said and done 90 minutes later, everyone at home could exhale with relief because Thane City FC had won!
The performance throughout the season was a result of the team’s hard work and dedication according to Coach Saurabh Shelke, “In recent months, the players have been putting efforts to stay competitive throughout the league, due to which we remain undefeated in the competition.”
The coaching staff was thrilled by the achievement and already states looking forward to what lies ahead of the championship, “By getting into the State Championship, we will be aiming to level up among the best teams. We will continue to work hard and keep giving our best performance at this stage,” added Coach Saurabh.
The under-13 team’s victory serves as an inspiration to young athletes everywhere, especially in Thane and around. It’s a testament to the fact that with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, anything is possible.
