At Thane City FC, we are always looking for ways to give our Players and Coaches the best Exposure possible. Recently, we took another big step in that direction by inviting Futsal expert Joshuah Vaz to conduct intensive Futsal Workshops across our centres. Futsal is one of the best ways to develop Quick Feet and even Quicker Thinking. We wanted our Coaches and Players to learn from the best, and Joshuah’s profile speaks for itself as one of the Top Names not only in India, but also across the Asian Futsal ecosystem.
Here is a look at what we did in our Futsal Workshops:
Day 1: Session at Sai World Empire, Kharghar
We started our journey at our Sai World Empire center in Kharghar. This day was all about connection as Joshuah spent time interacting with our young players and their parents. We believe that for a player to grow, the parents need to understand the “why” behind the training. It was a great session where everyone got to learn about the benefits of Futsal in a young footballer’s life.
Day 2: Training the Coaches and Performance Batch
Day two was the most intense part of the workshop as we held a full-day Theory and Practical session for our Performance Batch Coaches. The coaches went through classroom sessions followed by on-field drills to sharpen their tactical understanding and session delivery. We were also joined by Judon Dsouza, who was with Indian National Futsal team and assisted Coach Joshuah in delivering a Technical Topic to our Coaches. Our Under-12 and Under-13 PB players were present for the Practical Sessions in Gawand Baug, giving them a unique chance to train under national-level guidance. Later that day, Coach Joshuah conducted a Session for our Under-10 and Under-11 Performance Batch players, focusing purely on their Ball Control and Movement.
Day 3: Grassroots Focus at Lodha Amara and Gawand Baug
On the final day, the focus shifted to our Grassroots centers at Lodha Amara and Gawand Baug. Joshuah Vaz spent the day on the ground, Interacting with the Children and Observing our Coaches in action. This provided a rare opportunity for our Coaching staff to receive Real-Time, Practical Feedback from an Expert. These Assessments ensure that the High Standards we set are maintained across every Training Session at all our centers.

This workshop follows a long line of successful collaborations. Previously, we hosted Andy Martino from Southampton FC at our Gawand Baug, Lodha Amara, and Lodha Palava centers. We’ve also had Indian football legend Renedy Singh play a practice game with our Lodha Amara players and Yusuf Ansari conduct a specialized week-long Goalkeepers Module. With Joshuah Vaz returning with his Futsal Workshops after his visit in November 2023, we continue to ensure that the future of football in Thane is in expert hands.
